Serving up sushi since most ATLiens thought of it as fish bait, Nakato’s authentic Japanese dinner for 2 features classics including a delicious sushi roll, a full hot pot set up, bright-green edamame and, of course, sake.

What To Expect

  • Hot pot, a.k.a. Sukiyaki or Shabu-Shabu, in which you dip your beautifully-plated vegetables and meat into a pot of boiling broth

Scout Notes

Nakato, a third-generation family run restaurant, was started in the 1970s by current proprietor Sachi Nakato's grandmother. A time, she recalls, when people around Atlanta considered sushi nothing more than mere fish bait. But how times have changed, and for the better in our humble opinions. Now, Nakato is run from an expansive building with three dining rooms featuring different cuisines of Japan: the hibachi dinner & show tables on one side, the more traditionally set multi-course meals in a tatami mat room on the other and, finally, the sushi and hot pot main dining room, where our dinner for two takes place. This dining room is host to plush chairs, dark linen table cloths, ambient lighting and a view of Nakato’s outdoor Zen garden.

But let’s discuss the more important part: what you’ll be eating. You’ll get the perhaps more familiar classics like edamame and sushi roll of your choice. Your server, an expert in this Japanese meal, will help guide any newcomers through the process of hot pot dining. Featuring two beautifully presented plates of raw food—one veggie with produce like mushrooms, carrots and noodles made from yam, and the other with thin-sliced beef sirloin—you’ll dip the raw food into the boiling Sukiyaki broth or Shabu-Shabu kombu broth to cook it. Once cooked, dip into the delicious sauces and enjoy. You may even learn something new, like how the Genghis Khan military flipped over their metal helmets, filled them with water over fire and did the same thing you’re doing to cook their food (yes, hot pot as a style of eating is really, really old. Like a thousand-ish years old). After your meal, you’ll also get a Japanese dessert, like their Black Sesame Pudding or Shaved-Ice.

Whether you’re looking for an authentic course meal seated amongst Japanese businessmen or your mom wants hibachi for her birthday, Nakato will definitely deliver a experience unlike other restaurants. Our Shabu-Shabu or Sukiyaki hot pot dinner for two makes a great date and, alternatively, you can get a couple and bring a close-group of friends. Either way, there’s plenty of food to go around. Just remember to make reservations before coming. From the tastes to the views, you’ll feel like you’re in Japan, only without the miserable 12-hour plane ride.

Once you’ve placed your order, you will receive a confirmation of the Deal and your Reservation. Your credit card will be charged for the amount of the Deal. We will notify you by email when the Deal is to be used.

  2. Expiration Dates

    If applicable, the expiration date for a Deal and Reservation is noted on your confirmation and receipt.

  3. Deal Specific Terms

    Each Deal has specific terms associated with the Deal, which will be presented to you at the time you commit to purchase the particular Deal. Deal specific terms supersede any inconsistent terms in this Agreement, except to the extent such terms are prohibited by applicable law.

  4. General Terms

    Unless otherwise stated in the Deal or required by law, the following additional terms apply to all Vouchers:

    • no cash value for any Deal,
    • no cash back will be issued for partial redemption of the paid portion of a Voucher, except as required by law,
    • Deals cannot be combined with any other coupons or promotions unless otherwise noted in the Reservation,
    • Deals cannot be used for taxes, tips, prior balances, shipping or handling, as applicable,
    • neither Scoutmob nor the Merchant is responsible for lost or stolen Deals or Deal reference numbers,
    • duplicate use, sale or trade of a Deals is prohibited, except as required by law,
