Virginia Highlands new purveyor of asian flavors with an American spin is quickly turning into a neighborhood favorite, and you can you be one of the first to sample their “Yakitori Roulette” with authentic Japanese Whiskey pairings. The 3-course service will feature a hefty spread of deliciousness, plus all the good vibes of being one of the first on the scene to Atlanta’s newest hotspot.
According to Whiskey Bird
, “We try to stay away from labels when it comes to our food. We bring together the vibrancy of Asian flavors with the diversity of American tastes to create dishes that embody our inventive and creative spirit. We want our dishes to be unexpected, uninhibited and most importantly, unforgettable. But for those of you who want to label us, we just hope it will be as your favorite neighborhood restaurant. Yakitori is Japanese for ‘grilled chicken’. We have taken inspiration from this traditional Japanese dish and created a new style of Yakitori that is unique to Whiskey Bird. We start by selecting the best ingredients, carefully seasoning them, grilling them to perfection on our Robata grill and finishing them with a wallop of flavor. All of our Yakitori skewers are served by the piece, accompanied with pickles and slaw and best when shared.”
For us Hand-Pickers, Whiskey Bird has set up what they are calling a “Yakitori Roulette” (here at the office we call it a dream come true, but to each his own). In this 3-course meal, you can expect to start with your choice of choice of Scotch Egg or Crispy Brussels Sprouts (peep pics above to sneak a peek at all this abundance btw). Then the Yakitori Roulette begins. We are talking ‘bout a chef's selection of 4 different versions Japanese style skewered goodness. After that? You have a choice of Wagyu Steak au Poivre or Roasted Pork Tenderloin. Oh, and all the while you will be sippin’ on the finest of Japanese whiskey. Now we know a feast like that is a lot to take in at once, so take a second, breathe, and jump on this one before everyone else beats ya to the punch.
Whiskey Bird founders Chad and Anthony met their freshman year at university. The two quickly became friends and before long the pair was throwing weekly dinner parties for their close friends. Word got around of the duo’s talent for cooking and soon the number of others wanting to come to try their dishes caused the number of seats around their table to grow! With many late-night cooking sessions, farmers market runs and entertaining family and friends their friendship strengthened over the years. Their passion for food and entertaining sparked up an idea to one day open a restaurant. After much hard work, Chad and Anthony have proudly turned that idea into a reality. And now, you too can have a seat at the table!
