One of Atlanta's best wine selections, to-die-for cuisine, one of the best patios in town… with a holy trinity like that, we didn't really think Barcelona could possibly get any better. And then, like magic, two things happened: 1). one of Atlanta's most creative and lauded chefs, Shane Devereux, took the reins in the kitchen, and 2). he decided to kick off our summer with one hell of a party (al fresco, of course). We don't know about y'all, but our summer shindigs simply aren't complete without tasty beverages, DJ beats and all the juicy, delicious, fresh-off-the-flame pig our carnivorous hearts could hope for.
On June 24th, Barcelona's oasis of a private patio will set the stage for a Spanish-style pig roast like you've never seen. With Chef Shane manning the caja china, serving up a slew of pork dishes and sides, and teaching us a thing or two in the process, this fiesta takes the "backyard barbecue" to the next level. After a recent culinary trek to Spain to experience the cuisine firsthand, Chef Shane has returned to the Barcelona kitchen chock-full of inspiration—so expect his "pig four ways" dishes to go way beyond the ol' pulled pork sandwiches and cole slaw of yore (we hear rumors of pork croquettes and montaditos). In between bites, you can cleanse the palate with Barcelona's famous sangria, kick it to beats from the patio's live DJ, watch the master at work and indulge in all the fine swine you could possibly desire… at least until you're feeling completely and utterly pigged out. (To which we say, not by the hair of our chinny-chin-chin.)And once you're feeling sufficiently wined and swined, Barcelona has a parting gift before you enter full food-coma mode: a little wooden token redeemable for one complimentary tapa during your next visit. Because let's be honest: after a taste of what Chef Shane can do in that kitchen, it won't be long til we're back for more.
