New Brew Alert!: Wild Heaven Beer Taproom Visit With Flight Pour & 6 Pack To Go
Visiting a brewery is always fun – no doubt about it. But a night spent in the serene and stunning confines of Wild Heaven’s Avondale Estates outpost? It’s, well, downright heavenly. Brewmaster Eric Johnson has pretty much steered clear of all the standard brews on the market and set his sights on unique, easy-to-enjoy beers. Eric stated their approach best: “I don’t want to make a beer that will remind you of anything you’ve had before. We’re willing to take risks on ingredients and processes that aren’t always used in brewing.”
What To Expect
- Four 10oz pours
- Core Six or Four Pack to go included (special releases require an upcharge)
- Wild Heaven Beer glass
Upon your arrival at Wild Heaven, head straight to the bar to get your souvenir glass and your first of four 10oz pours of your choice of usually 10 or more unique offerings. Try their new Bestie Pub Ale- built on the backbone of a traditional Standard Pub Ale. Looking for something a little different? The Invocation Belgian Golden never fails to please. And their Goodvice Double IPA showcases some of the most exciting new hop varieties, bursting with tropical fruits and big piney earth hop goodness. Brewed with lupulin powder and nearly 8 pounds of hops per barrel, the Goodvice Double IPA proves that hoppy doesn’t always mean bitter.
While you sample these glorious beers, you can also enjoy everything the brewery has to offer, from towers of wood barrels, each one filled with a future specialty beer, to games of cornhole on the expansive tree-covered patio and the outdoor bar built into a shipping container. A few years ago, co-founders Nick and Eric rolled up their sleeves and busied themselves making major improvements on the space – German tile work, oodles of custom woodwork, a big ol’ [pup-friendly!] patio, and lots of whimsical accessory lighting to name a few. And to match their sublime surroundings? They got their hands on the most blessed brew system in the Peach State - it had formerly made the beer at SweetWater and Terrapin. After seeing the space and tasting their liquid bliss for ourselves, we have nary a doubt in our minds: Heaven is a place on earth – and it’s at Wild Heaven brewery.
Classics always on tap: Emergency Drinking Beer, Ode To Mercy, White Blackbird, Invocation, Wise Blood IPA
New beers to taste:
To Dan! Coconut Double IPA: a flavorful, juicy, big IPA featuring fresh coconut-- it's like no other hoppy beer.
Kallisto IPA: the latest in a series of experimental IPAs. Calista is the name of a new German hop that is a wonderful blend of bright melons, pear, tropical notes, and floral noble hops... So, we named this IPA "Kallisto," after the Greek virgin who was seduced by Zeus-- the origin story of the Ursa Major constellation.
Fortress of Sourtude: a mixed fermentation ale made with nearly 80 pounds of peaches per barrel. The ridiculous amount of peaches that were used (2000 pounds) contributed amazing aromatics and flavor that are a perfect accompaniment to the wild microflora that adds depth and complexity.
Limited edition beers available for take-home: Emmylou Barrel Aged Fruited Sour, Fortress of Sourtude Barrel Aged Fruited Sour, Goodvice, Kallisto, Dionysus Cuvee, Height of Civilization
