For nine years The Shed has been the culinary home for many Glenwood Park residents, may of whom dine at the restaurant multiple times a week and know the entire staff by name. But this enclave of elevated American fare is so much more than a local haunt, especially with our delicious dinner-for-two introduction.
Considering The Shed’s focus on perfectly executed American classics, we can’t think of a better introductory meal than two juicy burgers. If you subscribe to the “seen one burger, seen them all” philosophy, The Shed’s dry aged beef burger will quickly have you singing another tune. Chef Justin Dixon starts with house-ground dry aged beef from Southeast Family Farms in Alabama. Then he tops that with Poblano Cheese – his take on pimento cheese, substituting poblano peppers for pimentos. The final ingredient is a homemade bacon jam, made with crispy Nueske’s bacon, cherry vinegar, and sugar, which is reduced down into savory-sweet perfection. This is served with hand-cut fries for a burger experience unlike any other.
On the lighter side of things, The Shed’s large kale salad is ideal for sharing, and the addition of white anchovies and house-made Caesar dressing elevates it to much more than a typical side salad.
Eventually you’ll need to wash all that goodness down, and that’s when things get really fun. The Shed offers a rotating selection of cocktails that are aged in barrels for at least 30 days to achieve flavors that are distinguished as well as balanced. The team here likes to focus on perfectly executing the classics, so you’ll always see the Sazerac and Old Fashioned available from the barrel program, plus a varying selection of other traditional libations like the Manhattan and the Rusty Nail.And for the grand finale, an upscale spin on the Hostess classic, the Ding Dong. Constructed from a mocha chocolate cake with vanilla icing and a dark chocolate ganache, this sweet treat will bring your decadent meal to mouthwatering completion.
