Serious Burger Business: Dinner & Drinks for Two at The Barrelhouse
Where's the beef? We've finally found the answer to that age-old question, and it's smack-dab in the middle of Tech Square. Feast on Barrelhouse's towering, beefy concoctions (plus drinks and dessert), and never forget: sliders are for sissies.
What To Expect
- Two burgers of your choice, like the pimento cheese-slathered Rebel Yell or the hot hot habanero heat of the Flamethrower, served with a side of french fried 'taters
- Two selections from the bar, including local brews and/or seasonal craft cocktails
- One sweet to share from the dessert menu
Don’t let their Tech Square address fool you: whether lounging in their dark drinking den interior or taking your burger and brews on their summer-friendly patio, The Barrelhouse is not your average college bar. For that matter, it's not your average burger joint, either. Each of their beautiful, beefy creations is packed with decadent fixin's (e.g. bourbon BBQ sauce, homemade pickles, chipotle pimento cheese, etc.), wedged betwixt two perfectly crafted buns from The Grateful Bread, and served alongside a heaping helping of fries.
But the burgers aren't the only goodness happening here — there's also some serious business happening at The Barrelhouse bar. If you're partial to the classic burgers n' beer pairing, then you're in luck as local favorites are the focus here. Red Hare, SweetWater and Reformation Brewery are just a few names you'll find on tap. If you find yourself in the spirits spirit, then you and the seasonal cocktail menu will become fast friends. Get into the summer with the Train Wreck, a not-so-typical margarita creation with silver tequila, fresh key lime juice and Combier Crème de Pêche De Vigne peach liqueur. Craving the beach? Let the Malibu Barbie take you there with coconut rum, ginger beer, and a medley of juices. Be it brews or booze, there are really no wrong answers here, folks.
Now, back to the burgers: no matter which route you go (again, there are zero wrong answers), you’ll be sinking your teeth into a fresh 100% Angus beef patty, surrounded by a heaping of seasonal and local ingredients. Go full southern with the Rebel Yell, topped with pimento cheese, bacon, fried pickles, and BBQ sauce, or venture a little further south of the border with the jalapeno-and-habanero-filled Flamethrower. Whichever burger you choose to conquer, be sure to loosen your belt buckle one more notch for… wait for it… dessert. Indeed, to the victor go the sweets. Dig into Tres Leches cupcake or, our current favorite, the red velvet brownie topped with homemade cream cheese icing and vanilla ice cream. Sorry, sophomores: this is a dinner experience for the big boys. Serious burgers, serious booze and a dessert menu that is no joke.
