Cocktails 101: Intro to Mixology with Tavernpointe
If you love cocktails but don’t know the first thing about mixing them yourself, Tavernpointe’s Cocktails 101 class will have you stirring up classic drinks in no time!
What To Expect
- 2-hour class on the basics of cocktail making at Tavernpointe’s private bar
- An introduction to several bartending techniques
- Learn how to make two classic cocktails, which you can enjoy during the class along with complimentary bar snacks
If you’ve ever dreamed of getting into the drink slinging game but have no idea where to begin, then consider this your ticket to a crash course in the art of cocktails. Jonathan Turner, the bartender-in-chief behind Tavernpointe in Midtown, is offering the ultimate entry-level course to introduce newcomers to the world of boozy beverage making. In Cocktails 101, Jonathan will walk you and your classmates through a number of key drink making techniques. The class takes place in Tavernpointe’s private bar room and is completely interactive, meaning you’ll be able to get behind the bar to mix, shake, and stir up your own cocktails – which you can enjoy along with complimentary bar snacks.
In addition to learning how to make a couple classic drinks (think Old Fashioneds, Manhattans, and Moscow Mules), within the 2-hour class you’ll be taught a handful of useful techniques and tidbits that can have a dramatic impact on your cocktail making, such as the different kinds of ice and when to use them, how to stir correctly, proper wine service, and how to create a functional bar cart for entertaining at home. Jonathan may even teach you a bar trick or two to pull out at the next party you throw to showcase your new skill behind the bar. For anyone who’s dreamed of getting behind a bar and stirring up a perfect Old Fashioned, Cocktails 101 is the first step to becoming drink slingin’ pro.
