Starting November 20th, we have the chance to revel in a made-from-scratch Mexican feast for two, alongside two housemade top-shelf margaritas, all inside a cantina themed decor filled with good vibes!
Forget every mediocre Tex-Mex experience you've ever had because Guac y Margys
couldn't be further from fake cacti. And while you're forgetting, go ahead and do away with notions of taquerias that, sadly, have not an ounce of ambiance. The three owners, friends for 10+ years, opened Guac y Margys just this summer; throwing caution into the wind! Starting off with a couple pop-ups, the Guac y Margys dream of housemade margaritas and Mexican food made with real ingredients was born. This cantina tucked away on the Krog Street side of the Beltline in the new SPX Alley has the best of both worlds: a lively, margarita-fueled vibe and a menu of legit, from-scratch Mexican food just like your abuela would make it. These folks have taken the kind of genuine, home-style tacos you'd find on Buford Highway and brought them into a cantina atmosphere, where the tequila margaritas flow freely.
When you and your lucky dining buddy stop by, you'll start out with a heaping plateful of chips, homemade salsa and your choice of queso or guacamole (again all housemade!). We choose the guacamole and TBH that is some of the best we have tried in a looooooong time. Accompanying that first course, you'll each receive a perfectly boozy margarita made with freshly-squeezed lime juice. Then the main course: tacos! Between the two of you, four tacos of your choice will disappear after much ooo-ing, ahh-ing, and finger-licking. See? Staying inside ones (tortilla) shell? It isn't so terrible, after all.
There are few of life's tribulations that can't be solved with a bowl of guac (or queso), a round of tacos, and some strong margaritas. And really, you deserve much better than once frozen fare on a "Combination J" plate.... Luckily, Guac y Margys is the exactly the kinda lively new spot to host it ’s holy trinity of margaritas, guac, and tacos!
