Summer Seasonal Spirits: Mixology Classes at Grain
Tis the season for drinking, and Grain’s got you covered in the cocktail department with a lineup of summer cocktail classes that will prepare you to impress your friends with some seasonal drinks.
What To Expect
- A 2-hour class exploring advanced cocktail techniques at Grain
- Three new summertime themed cocktail classes taught by Grain’s Jonathan Turner
- Learn how to make two cocktails in each class
Hot off the heels of their Cocktails 201 class, Grain is once again turning their Midtown spot into a booze-fueled classroom with some exciting new courses that dive deep into the art of cocktail making - this time with some fun seasonal twists. Grain’s bar manager Jonathan Turner will once again lend his vast cocktail knowledge and drink making expertise to three courses that will prepare you to enjoy your summer with some seasonally curated libations.
To start things off, Jonathan’s June class intends to take the stigma out of blue drinks, with a course structure entirely around Blue Curacao. After providing some background on this fun and versatile liqueur – its history, its country of origin, and how it’s made – Jonathan will demonstrate how to make a couple festive red, white, and blue cocktails. That’s right, things are gonna get patriotic at this one, setting you up to have a great beverage menu at your Fourth of July barbecue.
In July, it’ll be time to get your shandy on! Jonathan will explain the ins and outs of these refreshing beer-based cocktails and how to make them right. These drinks are easy to batch make ahead of time for poolside enjoyment, and they’re conveniently low ABV, making them ideal for all-day summertime imbibing.
In August, Grain will close out the summer by getting geeky with molecular gastronomy. If you already took Cocktails 201 or are just looking to invest further into the art of mixing drinks, this class will take a deep dive into the technical and experimental side of mixology. You’ll learn how to add unique textures to drinks using scientific processes like spherification (the culinary process of shaping a liquid into solid spheres). No matter which class – or classes – you choose to attend, you’ll leave with a new arsenal of drink making skills to make your summer as refreshing as possible!
