From the mind of award-winning humorist David Sedaris, The Santaland Diaries is returning to Atlanta’s Horizon Theatre Company, and we can’t wait to laugh our way through this production of satirical holiday hilarity.
After nearly two decades of holiday hilarity, Horizon’s 19th year of the The Santaland Diaries will be marked by a passing of the elf hat and booties to a new leading actor! Horizon Theatre announced that acclaimed local actor, columnist, and playwright Topher Payne will take over the role of everyone’s favorite satirical, sarcastic elf, Crumpet, in David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries! Actor Harold Leaver, who blossomed into a beloved local celebrity in this iconic role which he has played at Horizon since it first debuted in the 1990s, is hanging up his tights and turning the telling of Sedaris’ now-classic alternative holiday tale.
With a healthy dose of self-defacing sarcasm and just a touch of humorous warmth, Santaland has managed to transform Sedaris’ prose into a one-man tour de force for nearly two decades now. The story of a man with a notoriously cynical perspective enduring a job that requires Christmas cheer will come to life before your eyes, and have you laughing nonstop for 90 minutes. Oh, and please leave the young ones at home, because the Santaland Diaries’ potent dose of holiday sneer is for adults only.
Our pass gets you access to an exclusive VIP experience, including select reserve seating and a complimentary holiday cocktail, so get ready to get up close and personal to some welcomed comic relief from the madness of the holidays.
