Could there be any more suiting gift for an Atlantan movie buff than a gift certificate for ten films at the iconic Plaza Theatre? It's the gift that keeps on giving.
What To Expect
- 10 movie passes to Atlanta’s iconic Plaza Theatre – the perfect gift for any local film lover
’Tis the season to not stress over what to give to your friends and family who seem to have everything. Well for those with movie lovers in their gifting range – we've got just the thing. So many of us have fallen victim to the lure of our streaming queues, when really what we long for is an authentic silver screen experience. The kind of enchanting evening at the movies where the popcorn overflows from the kettle like a fresh burst of joy, where kicking back in the darkness and comfort of a theatre and be transported to a whole other world – be it adventurous, horrific, hilarious, or down right weird.
That’s where Atlanta’s longest continuously operating movie theatre comes in: the iconic Plaza Theatre. Since opening its doors to us way back in 1939, the theatre has continuously offered up the best of the magical world of cinema to us. From the thrilling showing of The Interview to its first film screening of The Women to the installments of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (which hits the reels every Friday), it’s always been the place where Atlanta’s film enthusiasts convene. The theatre changed hands a few years ago to owners Michael Furlinger and John Brieger, who have transformed the old Plaza into a top-notch movie experience. Sporting new seats, digital projectors, screens, curtains and sound. (The only thing that hasn't changed is the iconic vibe.)
So if you find yourself in a bit of a pickle this holiday season, dear scout, we highly suggest scoring this delightful film experience package for your friend or loved one. Nothing quite sums up an evening in the theatre’s delightful confines, but we imagine that an evening at the theatre is about as close as we’ll get to the way that the movie theatre experience was intended to be. And the recipient of said gift, will get to enjoy it not once, not twice – but ten times. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving.
