When David and Larry – two avid home-brewers and co-owners of Blind Murphy’s growler shop – tried their hand at creating a Pumpkin Pie Soda for a customer appreciation event, what began as a fun experiment quickly turned into something much bigger. Customers loved Larry and David’s pumpkin soda, and when the two brewers decide to ferment the drink and create an alcoholic beverage, people loved that even more! With a hit clearly on their hands, the duo closed up Blind Murphy’s, and in March of this year opened Naughty Soda, where they brew several flavors of alcoholic soda. Lucky for us, the brewery opens its doors weekly for curious imbibers to get a behind the scenes look and taste.
Upon entering Naughty Soda, you’ll first be taken on a walk through the facility by tour-master Stephen. A trained stage-actor, Stephen elevates the typical brewery tour to a theatrical experience full of comedy, immersion, and education. You’ll laugh, you’ll learn, you may even cry (tears of joy, that is). After the tour, you’ll be treated to a soda tasting in Naughty Soda’s 16-handle taproom. On draft will be all of the brewery’s flagship flavors, including Sun Tea, Toasted Marshmellow, and Strawberry Lemon. In addition to these flavors, new recipes are being brewed every week, so expect to find fun variations like Maple Bourbon, Blackberry, and Mango. Naughty Soda also houses Ironmonger Brewery, so you can get your beer fix too.As if all this wasn’t enough to make your taste buds tingle with anticipation, when the tour and tasting have come to an end, you’ll be sent home with a 6-pack of one of Naughty Soda’s flagship flavors (or a pick-six with all your favorites) and a bag full of Naughty Soda swag.
