The Family Dog is like that neighborhood bar we never had: lots of surprisingly classy bar food and a whole lotta good booze. If we're being honest, there are literally zero reasons to not spend each and every happy hour at this Morningside staple.

Do you ever have things that go unexplored for far far too long? Maybe even things right in your backyard? (We're not talking tree houses, here. We'd be all over that.) Because Atlanta's so, well, massive, it's easy for little, yet hugely awesome, spots to go a smidge under the radar. Along a bustling little road in Morningside, for example, there's a block or so of local restaurants that are all worthy of making regular appearances in our rotation. And so, because we like to eat, we're celebrating one of those hallowed spots. The Family Dog
is a stalwart supporter of all things neighborly and local.
Nestled right up next to Alon's Bakery, The Family Dog offers a boisterous reprieve from real-world worries. The Family Dog is named after an art-music collective the Dead played at in the '70s, and that's evident in the custom art adorning the walls, as well as the quality (and volume) of jams blasting both inside and out. On any given evening, the bar inside is long, welcoming and filled to the brim with both a bevy of libations and chuckling, smiling crowd of regulars. But the booths, with inlaid dog photographs, make excellent seating, too – like some sort of real-life Instagram. This is a place for drinks, food, and music. Luckily, we're fans of all three.
Before you and your best friend (we're guessing here) stop by The Family Dog during your jaunt through Morningside, you'll want to prepare yourselves for the culinary and libation-tasting smackdown that is to come. You'll have your pick of the entrees on the new brunch menu. Yes, this is the stuff of dreams… if you're one to dream about magnificent pancakes, that is. Of course, the main event here is more of the liquid variety – choose from either a mimosa carafe for each of ya to share, or enjoy a trip to the bloody mary bar. Ladies, gentlemen, this is to be an an afternoon of refined booze, savory dishes, and good vibes. Enjoy!
