Here's your dilemma: you're thinking, "I'd really love to grab some King of Pops right now, but... it's winter? There's a rule about not having popsicles when it's 42° outside, right?" Well, not really—and we think you should treat yo'self to some KOP whenever the mood strikes. However, if you're feeling awkward about enjoying a frozen treat in the frosty weather, we've found a totally legit loophole: having a popsicle that's actually a cocktail at King of Pops' poptail class.
...and we just figured out how you can enjoy popsicles in the winter AND combine it with booze. So many wins here.
King of Pops would never ask you to consume flavors like the ever-ambiguous "blue raspberry" or "green" and the bar will treat you to the same with real fruit and other identifiable, delicious ingredients. The tasting includes half-portion samples of their Fuchsia Fizz (Gin, Grapefruit, Hibiscus) and Honeycrisp (Apple Brandy, apple cider, honey) Poptails and a full-size Bear Trap cocktail (Bourbon + Blackberry) served on the rocks with a submerged Honey-Ginger mini pop. While their popsicles and Poptails are made with real fruit, some ingredients, like the ginger, have the added bonus of being from their Georgia farm, King of Crops. And with all this fresh produce, it's basically healthy, right?
This class and flight combo, at 6:30 or 8:30 p.m. on specific evenings in November, makes a perfect pre-dinner drinks activity in Ponce City Market. All classes include a 30-minute presentation by an expert King of Pops Bar Master, and come with a handy-dandy recipe card. One last perk: your full-size cocktail will be served in a plastic go-cup, so you get free-rein to explore PCM with some pop in your step.
