Looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with some heat this year? Well, look no further, because thanks to Janke Studios we’ve found a date to beat all other dates. Janke Studios is Atlanta’s first complete glassblowing center, and now you can experience the unique art of glassblowing for yourself, through an intimate, hands-on private class.
Established by Matt Janke in 1996, Janke Studios is the epicenter of the art of glassblowing in Atlanta. The team of professional artists here specializes in making beautiful glass creations of all types, from light fixtures and commissioned art pieces to home décor and restaurant ware. In addition to their commissioned work, Janke Studios is also dedicated to sharing the art of glassblowing through education and has offered a variety of hands-on classes for several years. Now the studio is adding something new to the equation, with an intimate class where you get to create with “hot glass”. To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, Janke Studios is dedicating the entire month of March to “Hot Sham-rocking”. You will learn how to heat, shape, and mold Shamrock Paperweights in a fun and intimate setting. Your beautiful creation will be around for years to come.
After your paperweights are complete, they’ll be placed in an oven to slowly cool, when ready for you take home, you will enjoy your “art” crafted by you for season after season. But with glassblowing, the process is just as mesmerizing as the finished product, which is what makes a class like this so awesome, and – in our opinion – the ultimate date idea. In addition to your handmade glass paperweights, you will also enjoy some light snacks, courtesy of Janke Studios.
