It's not often that Atlanta sees a snowy white Christmas, but Park Tavern is returning again this year to make your winter dreams come true. Come and frolick in a festive, frosty playground at Piedmont Park: skate up and glide around their ice rink, then take a break for a cup of hot cocoa to warm you fingers and noses and toes-es.
Temperatures are dropping and Christmas music is officially on the radio, which means it’s just about time to hit the Aquafina Rink at Park Tavern for a holiday skating session. When it comes to Christmas traditions, nothing beats the fun and festivity of ice-skating, and with its picturesque location overlooking the midtown skyline, the Aquafina Rink at Park Tavern is our favorite place to get our yearly skating fix.
Situated in Park Tavern’s spacious Garden Tent right off the Beltline and on the edge of Piedmont Park, the covered, 85 by 40 foot rink provides ample space for seasoned skaters and first-timers alike to take to the ice at their own speed. When it comes to quality and safety, Park Tavern’s attention to detail will put any holiday fun-seeker at ease. The ice Aquafina Rink at Park Tavern is resurfaced every hour and a half, and admission includes high quality, professionally sharpened skate rentals, setting you up with everything you need to finally perfect that triple axel.
Park Tavern also features plenty of modern amenities to keep the Christmas cheer at a maximum level. While skaters will stay warm and comfortable under the heated tent, observers and non-skaters can relax in the newly renovated covered patio, which boasts luxurious seating, fire pits, and flat screen TVs. Plus, our handpicked access includes a complimentary cup of hot cocoa, which in our opinion is the perfect post skating recovery drink.
Once you’ve skated to your heart’s content and enjoyed a hot beverage on the festively decorated patio, we recommend taking a winter stroll in the park or, if you’ve worked up an appetite, taking advantage of Park Tavern’s available rink-side dining and enjoying some seasonal food and drink while you observe your fellow skaters. Christmas comes but once a year, and so does this fun holiday tradition, so take our advice and hit the ice before its too late!
