This playful yoga class makes use of a fabric hammock to enhance your practice by providing gentle support or increasing the intensity of traditional poses. Each class will allow you an opportunity to invert in the hammock and experience the benefits of hanging upside down, reversing blood flow in the body and decompressing the spine.
Your hammock will be adjusted up or down to best fit your body and allow you to easily get into the hammock (no, you don't need to hop in like a trapeze artist, unless you really want to). Our instructors will walk you through each pose including demoing and provide progressions if you'd like to kick things up or if you need to make your practice more gentle. While inversions are a yummy treat, they are optional in every class and you can opt for an inversion on the mat such as down dog or legs up the wall (or skip inversions altogether). The final savasana pose is the ultimate relaxation experience and may result in snoring (but we're not judging, this is a yoga class after all).
Grey Owl Mind-Body Studio opened its doors in June 2017 with the mission to provide a welcoming space for education, transformation, and restoration. We offer a variety of yoga styles such as hatha (beginners), yin, restorative, vinyasa flow, warm power flow and are excited to also provide aerial yoga (where a nylon fabric hammock is used as a prop).
For those looking to further target the mind, energetic and emotional dimension, our curriculum includes qigong and meditation. Whether you are enjoying a cup of tea in the lobby, meditating in our zen room or experiencing weightlessness in a hammock, our goal is for you to feel at healthy and relaxed. The main practice room of Grey Owl is a multi-functional space used for classes, workshops and private parties. Eight student hammocks hang beautifully from the exposed ceiling for use during our aerial classes. Grey Owl Yoga offers a wide array of props to help you fully achieve your practice goals.
