Have you ever fantasized about being able to impress friends with your cocktail-making prowess at the ole yuletide gathering? You can check that off your ice-bucket list once you complete this holiday entertaining-themed class taught by Mercedes O’Brien, Gunshow’s award-winning cocktail mix-tress (and recipient of Zagat’s prestigious “30 Under 30” list).
Mercedes O’Brien is the curator of all things cocktail at Kevin Gillespie’s Gunshow. From recipe development to costing, O’Brien cultivates cocktails to complement the ever-changing menu at Gunshow. “For the cocktail development at Gunshow, I draw daily inspiration from the chefs and the team’s personal lives,” says O’Brien. O’Brien arrived at Gunshow in January 2014 as the restaurant’s cocktail cart conductor and has been educating guests by making tableside drinks ever since. “It’s really gratifying because we have the opportunity to explain every cocktail just like the chefs describe each dish. In the traditional bar setting, guests oftentimes don’t want to take a leap to ask questions. But talking about flavor profiles of the drinks at Gunshow creates a big bouncing off of ideas and conversations.”
Participants in O'Brien's holiday party cocktail class will also enjoy light, sumptuous snacks while sipping and learning to make four complex drinks (shout out to the eggnogs and ciders for example) in an interactive setting. Oh, and there is a Red Beard Restaurants tote bag with a Gunshow-branded shaker pint for cocktails at home, as well as small bites to enjoy with your drinks during the lesson.
Please enjoy responsibly- no drinking and driving! (Uber and Lyft are way too easy, so no excuses!)
