Glenwood Park’s Gunshow is likely the most one-of-a-kind restaurant in Atlanta. This experimental eatery, created in 2013 by chef Kevin Gillespie – the brain behind Woodfire Grill and Revival – combines Brazilian churrascaria-style dining with Chinese dim-sum for a fun and unexpected restaurant experience. At Gunshow, diners get to interact directly with the chefs, who personally deliver dishes to each table. And the team in the kitchen is cooking up brand new recipes on a weekly basis, so each visit is bound to be a completely new experience.
Although Gunshow is already one of the most unique dining destinations in town, six times a year they do something that takes things to an even further level. It’s called Hired Guns, and it gets Atlanta diners face to face with some of the best chefs from cities all across America and beyond. For each dinner in the Hired Guns series, Gillespie recruits one of his favorite chefs from another city to join his staff for one night and add some signature dishes of their own to the Gunshow menu. The guest chefs are set loose in the kitchen and given free reign to create whatever they can dream up, and trust us, this usually results in some pretty crazy – and delicious – stuff. Not only will diners get to sample a couple completely new dishes in addition to Gunshow’s already rotating menu, but they’ll also get to meet and interact with the visiting “hired gun” and hear their story in a unique and intimate chef’s table experience.
For March’s edition of Hired Guns, Kevin has recruited Jennifer Carroll, a Top Chef alum and restaurateur from Fairfax, Virginia. Jennifer is executive chef and partner at Requin, a seafood-focused French Mediterranean restaurant in Fairfax, with a new location opening soon in Washington, D.C. In addition to running the kitchen at Requin, Jennifer was a Top Chef finalist, and has worked with Eric Ripert at Le Bernadin in New York City. Jennifer’s years of varied culinary experience will certainly result in some dishes that you won’t want to miss out on during her night as Gunshow chef. Guests will be sent home with a souvenir menu signed by Kevin and Jennifer. They will also have a photo-op with the chefs at the end of the dinner.
