As summer approaches there’s nothing we carve more than a refreshing gin cocktail. Luckily, the good folks at Double Zero are here with a new class that’ll give you everything you need to sling your own delicious gin-based libations.
What To Expect
- An intimate gin cocktail class led by Double Zero’s bar manager Nicolas Dolby
- Learn all about the history and varieties of gin
- Hands-on instruction on how to mix and stir two cocktails: the classic Gin-Gin Mule and Double Zero’s signature Dew Dropper
- Passed appetizers to munch on while enjoying your hand-made drinks
- Get equipped with all the knowledge you need to sling some knockout gin cocktails at your next get-together
Since opening in Emory Village last year, Double Zero has been committed to pursuing the craft of making great food using equally great ingredients – and that philosophy applies to their bar program as much as it does in the kitchen. Bar manager Nicolas Dolby has stocked Double Zero with spirits from all over the world, as well as lots of local and house-made fresh ingredients. Now Nick is sharing some of his expertise, via an intimate cocktail class that’ll have you slingin’ your own drinks in no time.
Just in time for summer, Nick’s newest class will focus on the extremely versatile and always refreshing spirit, Gin. Before you start mixing drinks, Nick will briefly walk through the history gin, its varietals and different botanicals, and its production. Also, since both of the cocktails featured in the class use Hendrick’s gin, you’ll get a little extra dose of education on that particular producer – enough to impress your friends at your next cocktail party.
Once you’ve had your fill of Gin 101, it’ll be time to put that knowledge to good use by making your own tasty libations. Nick will give hands-on instruction on how to make two gin cocktails, both of which involve standard bar skills like stirring, shaking, and pouring. First, you’ll make a Gin-Gin Mule, Double Zero’s take on a classic Moscow Mule, which includes fresh mint, lime, and Nick’s hand-made Ginger Beer. Next, you’ll make one of Double Zero’s best selling signature cocktails: the Dew Dropper. This refreshing and fruity concoction mixes gin with red grapefruit, lime, and house-made mint simple syrup for the ultimate summertime porch sittin’ adult beverage. The great thing about these two drinks is that while they are sophisticated and full of complex flavors, they’re also pretty easy to recreate at home with just a few essential ingredients. That means you can whip them up for friends and family without spending too much time or money gathering supplies. Finally, to conclude the class, you and your classmates will be treated to some chef’s choice appetizers to enjoy whilst sipping on your self-made cocktails!
