Bess, the founder of Treehouse Milk, attempted to become a vegan about 6 or 7 years ago but had a hard time giving up things like cheese and sushi. The one thing that really stuck from those trying times was her love of almond milk. Eventually, in her foodie findings, she learned how to make almond milk and could taste a significant difference between what she made versus what comes from the store. That discovery is what motivated Bess to bring wholesome, real nut-milks to her friends and neighbors here in Atlanta. Secretly we were hoping that there was a fun story about how Bess makes the milk in a treehouse. But alas, there isn’t. Treehouse Milk works almost exclusively with tree nuts, What makes these nut-milks different is that they are fresh and pure, made right here in Grant Park. You won’t find any additives like the ones that are found in the almond milk you’d get from the grocery store. Also, the Treehouse Milk ratio of nuts to water is also about 10x higher – so, this is super nutrient-packed drinking! They also try to source our ingredients locally, organic and non-GMO whenever available. For example, our pecans are from Pearson Farms and our cacao is from Xocolatl Small Batch Chocolate (both here in Georgia). And perhaps most importantly, Bess cold presses the milk as opposed to heating or pasteurizing it like the grocery store kind; it’s raw, real food, plain and simple!
You can expect to choose from a variety of blends (12, currently) that can be used just about any way you can imagine. Our flavors range from rich (like matcha and golden) to simple (like pure cashew and macadamia milk). Treehouse Milk delivers fresh and made-to-order, in glass jars that can be reused. It’s like the old-fashioned milkman (if you ever heard your grandparents tell you stories...), but 2018-style.Treehouse Milk also just started bottling their own oat milk, which is way more exciting than we would have thought. Granted oats are not a tree nut, but Treehouse Milk had been making it for Spiller Park Coffee, and so many folks starting putting in requests that Bess and her team decided to introduce some for everyone! They also are the exclusive makers of the original Georgia pecan milk. Pecans are THE “supernut” – with more antioxidants than any other nut, and they make luscious milk! Also, the golden milk -- with turmeric, ginger & honey -- is popping right now. So grab your milk pass now and then head over to the Treehouse Milk website to pick your bundle of delicious goodness!
