If your image of a boxing gym is a bunch of elite athletes going at it in the ring, then we’ve got news for you. The sport of boxing isn’t just for professional fighters, it’s for everyone! Just look at Delgado Boxing in Sandy Springs, were men and women of all ages and fitness levels have found boxing to be an ultimate full-body workout, as well as a super fun way to get fit. We guarantee that 5 classes at Delgado are all it will take to get you hooked too.
Founded in 2009 by former professional welterweight fighter Paul Delgado, Delgado Boxing offers a variety of weekly boxing, kickboxing, cardio, and kettlebell training classes. In addition to the punching, kicking, footwork, and defensive technique of a typical boxing training session, each class at Delgado also serves as an intense, total body strength and conditioning workout. Boxing and kickboxing classes are an hour long and start with 15-20 minutes of cardio exercises. This is followed by 30 minutes of hardcore boxing movements on the 100lbs bags or with one of Delgado’s certified instructors – many of whom are former pro fighters or coaches. Each workout ends with 15-20 minutes of core-strengthening ab work. The best thing about classes at Delgado is how many different fitness skills they pack into a single hour. Not only do you get to hone your technical and strategic boxing skills, but you also gain valuable self-defense training, and get a full-body cardio and muscle building workout. And if you ever feel like working out without the gloves, Delgado offers weekly kettlebell classes that focus solely on strength and conditioning.
We personally recommend the Thursday night kickboxing class, which features live music courtesy of DJ Akeem, who keeps the bass pumping while you get your blood pumping. Nothing adds to the adrenaline of a hardcore workout like blaring some pump-up jams and having DJ Akeem live in-house makes this popular Thursday night class lively and fun for everyone involved.
If Paul and his team of enthusiastic trainers at Delgado Boxing are out to prove anything, it’s that boxing is for everyone. If it seems intimidating or out of your comfort zone, we think that after 5 classes you’ll be convinced that boxing at Delgado is not only a great workout but also an extremely fun way to get fit. Take our word for it and start punching your way into fitness today!
