We know you enjoy rolling up your sleeves for a DIY project, but how often do you get to meet your maker? The creative folks behind Atlanta Makers have partnered with Switchyards Downtown Club to show one of their short films and to give you the ultimate chance to meet the founders of Go Forth Goods, all while sipping Second Self Beer of course!
We’ll always jump at the chance to get into a new DIY project, and ending up with creations to complement our sentiments will send us into absolute fits. Thanks to the crafty folks of Atlanta’s very own Atlanta Makers
, we have the chance to deep dive into learning about local craftsmanship. Joey, the founder of Atlanta Makers, is doing his part to keep Atlanta informed on who is making what and where (did ya follow that one?). Atlanta Makers is an online publication that connects the people of Atlanta with their local artisan. Featuring a variety of Metro Atlanta’s artists and makers through video spotlights, Atlanta Makers provides an intimate look into the life of a maker, creative inspiration, and the daily struggles of creating handmade, artisan goods for a modern audience. If you’d like to help Atlanta Makers grow, follow them on Instagram

Go Forth Goods, the first company to be highlighted by Atlanta Makers, crafts functional, high-quality leather goods in the USA. They design goods both for outdoor adventures and taking to work, guaranteed by a lifetime warranty. The company started in 2014 when the founder, Nathan Martin, had a cheap bag break on him right before a family trip. When he set out to find the perfect replacement, he couldn’t find anything American-made that fit his criteria for durability. When he couldn’t find what he wanted, he decided to make his own.
For this first workshop, Atlanta Makers will be showing at the cool-kids-central AKA The Switchyards Downtown Club their 11th short film of the series about Nathan and Go Forth Goods, giving you a full access pass behind the scenes of their leather workshop and passions. If you have never been to Switchyards before, now is your chance to check out their epic stadium seating and raw industrial chic vibes (insta-slam moment anyone?). After that Joey from Atlanta Makers will do a short Q&A about the film that leads to a live leather workshop with Nathan of Go Forth Goods. In this workshop, you will be able to interact directly with a premier maker and also craft your very own wallet all while under the supervision of an expert! Oh, and to keep things smooth throughout, Second Self Beer Co. has so very graciously offered to supply this workshop with plenty of refreshing ATaLe (is that not the most fitting beer name for this event of all time?) for all. So hurry up, time to learn a new skill while having fun and meeting tons of talented artisans!
