For those somehow out of the loop, ART PARTY is one of the most happening events of the year. Atlanta Contemporary has been hosting ART PARTY for decades, so they’ve gotten pretty good at immersing the neighborhood in a big ole’ pool of art happenings. On Saturday, August 26th, from 7 - midnight, Atlanta Contemporary will turn their whole campus into a huge outdoor block party, which means we straight up shut the streets down for music, food, drinks, and, oh yeah, ART! One of the highlights for this year comes from Atlanta Contemporary’s recent partnership with COVER books- to compliment to the 7 new exhibitions being showcased at ART PARTY, COVER books has curated a selection of print publications for sale.
Around the campus, beverages available for purchase victuals—including cocktails crafted by some of Atlanta's best bartenders who participate in Atlanta Contemporary’s Mixologists-in-Residence program—and free bites from local restaurants all while you peruse the exhibition. ART PARTY is a fundraiser, and every dollar you spend goes towards helping Atlanta Contemporary maintain its mission to never charge admission, so make sure you eat and drink a lot- it means there’ll be more free art for the whole city. You can pat yourself on the back for that one. And don’t be afraid to step up your fashion game for this party—wear your most artistic getups and put out the vibe.
And one last important Hand-Picked note: This is your last chance to get $30 tickets. Starting on August 7th, Hand-Picked ticket prices are going up to $40 and then to $50 the day of. AND FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR YOU CAN GO BACK TO THE EXHIBITS FOR FREE, ALL BECAUSE YOU PARTIED IN THE NAME OF ART!
ABOUT ATLANTA CONTEMPORARY:
“Founded in 1973 as Nexus, a grassroots artists’ cooperative, Atlanta Contemporary has since become one of the southeast’s leading contemporary. We play a vital role in Atlanta’s cultural landscape by presenting six–10 exhibitions within four seasonal cycles each year, featuring consequential artists from the local, national, and international art scenes. We are one of the few local institutions that commission new works by artists, paying particular attention to artists of note who have not had a significant exhibition in the Southeast. We organize 50+ diverse educational offerings annually, unrivaled by other local organizations of our size. We are the only local organization to provide on-site subsidized studio space to working artists through our Studio Artist Program, removing cost as a barrier to the creative process.”
