Navigating the ever-evolving landscape of Atlanta's art scene can be a bit tricky -- so many organizations, institutions, and artists to keep track of! Luckily, we've had ArtsATL since 2009 -- a non-profit arts publication that keeps us in-the-know with their editorial and journalistic prowess. Visual Art? Yup. Music? You bet. Dance? Theater? Books? Film? Checkity-check-check-check. It's all there! And they publish, like, 600 stories annually, which means we're constantly being kept up-to-date.
But ArtsATL is more than just a website and business. They like to party, too. And what better time to do so than the summer? And what better place to do so than the verdant, floral landscapes of one of Atlanta's most historic cemeteries?
The ArtsATL Lawnch Party at Oakland Cemetery is a jamboree to celebrate all of the great things happening in Atlanta's arts community and all the great stuff that's to come for the rest of the year. Think of it as a lawn party -- but an artsy lawn party. That means you get lawn games, great food, drinks, and tunes, but everything's a bit more aesthetically pleasing. In addition to the cool vibes offered by one of ATL’s most historically cool cemetery's, you can expect all of the fun happenings such as lawn games by Brutal.Studio, music curated by Deer Bear Wolf, customs relaxation stations designed by Gavin Bernard and Candace Rutherford Parks, hear from Atlanta city council and mayoral candidates about their arts platforms, and (last but definitely not least) there will also be yummy food from the Good Food Truck and boozy goodness by 97 Estoria! Hand-Pickers will have access to all of that PLUS be able to rock an exclusive ArtsATL t-shirt and beer koozie all the while!)
But wait! That's not all -- this year will also be the kick-off of ArtsATL's Luminary Award nominations. Anyone that you've found especially inspiring or accomplished throughout the year? You'll have a chance to nominate them! (And then get back to partying.)
